The inaugural winners of the Women’s X Grade will receive the newly created Dixie Jones Shield, named in honor of the ultimate wāhine club rugby warrior.
Feilding Old Boys-Ōroua and Bush will clash in the 10-a-side Women’s X Grade final as part of the Women’s and Girl’s Finals Festival on Saturday 6 July.
Dixie Jones made her mark on Manawatū rugby as a fierce competitor on the field, an inspiring leader, an organisational star as manager, and a supporter and mentor for rangatahi.
Jones debuted for Manawatū in 2000 and was heavily involved in the game for over a decade, playing a huge role in setting the foundations for the women’s game in Manawatū. She also managed the Manawatū women’s team.
Jones represented Linton Army and Kia Toa with the pride and passion which underpins the values of the X Grade competition.
Jones now resides in Australia.
