WOMEN'S ADVISORY GROUP - EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

Under the New Zealand Rugby Women and Girls’ Action Plan, Manawatū  Rugby Union is committed to establishing a Women’s Advisory Group.

The purpose of the Women and Girls Advisory Group is to:

  • provide strategic leadership, insights, and advice to support the progression of women's and girls' (W&G) rugby in Manawatū
  • support the delivery and advocacy of the MRU W&G Action Plan
  • support key decision makers to consider a W&G in rugby perspective when making decisions.

The Women's Advisory Group will communicate and collaborate with key stakeholders in the province, and advocate for W&G priorities and outcomes into Manawatū Rugby. The group will have opportunities to present to MRU staff, the Manawatū Junior Rugby Board, Manawatū Secondary Schools Rugby Board, the Manawatū Club Rugby Executive, and the Manawatū Board of Directors when required.

Focus areas:

  • women's and girls’ competitions
  • pathways for women and girls
  • engaging with junior girls in rugby
  • attracting women into off-field roles including coaches, referees, managers, analysis and other roles.
  • advocate for facility improvements to suit our athletes.

Members of the advisory group will be required to attend monthly meetings (fourth Wednesday of each month), advocate for W&G needs, and have a whole W&G approach to the role - not focused on individual on agendas/outcomes.

We are accepting expressions of interest from women and girls aged 16  and over.

Please send your expression of interest to Kahurangi Sturmey, Women & Inclusion Lead, at kahurangis@manawaturugby.co.nz by Friday 21 June 2024.
